My wife and sourced this using TripAdvisor web site and were not disappointed. Easy enough to find at the top of the shopping street through the archway. It is a big place - an odd mix of bar with pool tables and darts and simple restaurant but it works. We ate a mix of starters/tapas. More then enough! Very pleasant staff. Started with a very well constructed G and T and were then looked after by a super young lady ( co owner with g n' t maker?) Only point is that bar permits smoking so you do get a bit of that but well worth a visit. Personally I liked the local guys and gals in the bar whilst we were in the restaurant part!

We called in for lunch and although the host did not speak English we made welcome and given a menu with English translation. We wanted to try the local specialities so opted for the Pig's Ears in Vinaigrette, Guinea Fowl and the Pork. Something went amiss and we ended up with the Steak. Everything was very good . Our lunch was spoilt by diners on the next table who turned on and were watching a TV show at full volume on a mobile phone---- this was tolerated by the host and others. Its a tiny space- only 9 tables with a bar and outside seating. If we spokePortuguese, we would have relocated and complained.

This restaurant is known for his grilled meat, particularly "porco preto" ("black pork", a type of pork meat in Portugal). Food: they have 1/2 doses and full doses. A full dose will be more than enough for two. Ask for what they recommend (by the...More

I'll be honest - I didn't really want to dine here last night, and I had very low expectations - my experiences with "oriental buffet" haven't been very positive. But my wife and I really enjoyed our dinner here - "all you can eat buffet" for 10.90€ - last night.I don't eat fish, but my wife enjoyed the sushi - she's no expert in these matters, but she said it was the best she'd ever had.I went "chinese" - not the largest spread I've ever seen, but a fair range of different flavours, hot, well-cooked and quickly replenished. Some fresh fruit, jelly, or fruit cocktail to finish and all was well. It's a large place, with a lot of inside seating as well an an outside area with a great view - it was too cool (yes, in late June) to eat outside, but I presume in better weather that's possible and would be most pleasant. All the staff were very friendly, which is often not the case in places such as these, which was refreshing. And, to top it all off, as well as the "usual suspects" at the bottom of the wine tree, they had some decent quality offerings too.A great place for "different" food in Portalegre, at last - we'll be back.

This is a place to have lunch or dinner, even to eat desserts in the middle of the afternoon. We've found this restaurant searching for a light dinner. We've stopped here to take a rest during our travel, and spending our night here. We've tasted Gazpacho with some variants regarding the Spanish one, but delicious. Omelet and salad. Everything was really good cooked. The waiter has been very kindly with us, speaking a really good Spanish.Of course, we recommend this place if you are searching for a dinner during a normal day.
