I just happened to be walking by this shop, and decided to stop in because I was looking for coffee to bring back home. The shop was fairly busy. I can’t tell you whether it was catering mostly to tourists (like me). I was impressed that they had whole beans, and a grinder, so it appeared they were set-up as an actual coffee and tea shop. The staff person who assisted me was cordial and asked the right questions about how I would like the beans, while, type of grind, etc. It was a fairly pleasant experience up to that point. Then I checked out and was handed the bag with their branding. I was shocked, but unfortunately should not have been as surprised. I have found that the branding in some European companies continues to traffic in old world, stereotypical imaging that they associate with people of color, particularly Africans and Asians. In one would think that was a thing of the past, but not so. Here is an image of branding. I hope that the company reconsiders its branding. Until then, as others have noted, this place is just average and there are other coffee shops in Lisbon to patronize.
